Little Bug Ceramics
Hello, my name is Jackie!
I have been playing around with clay and making ceramic pieces for 3 years. I have a passion for creating playful, functional art. I love the idea of producing items of joy that people use in their day-to-day life.I am still learning every time I sit in front of the wheel or mould a pinch pot. I find it refreshing that there are so many different ways of creating pottery, keeping the practice exciting and new for me. Both hand built and wheel thrown pieces have a place in my work, as I love both methods for very different reasons. My hand built pieces allow me to spend more time shaping and moulding and I love creating an organic feel in my pots. I find my mind shuts off when I am hand building, and I am able to just spend time focusing on the piece in front of me. Wheel throwing feels more exhilarating, and more often than not a challenge! I find it fun to push my limits on what techniques I can use and what I can create with them.
In my upcoming work I want to attempt larger pieces on the wheel and to use my pieces as a canvas, experimenting with glazes and design. I also want to focus my work into collections, creating pieces that compliment each other, developing the technique and process as I make each one.
But no one is going to stop me from also making a million mismatched mugs for the already bowing shelf in my kitchen!
